Season Is Now Here in Miami Beach… A Walk Down Lincoln Road & Ocean Drive!
by Ashton Coleman on Oct.30, 2008, under Community Information
What a beautiful day today in Miami Beach Florida. It’s currently 70 degrees and sunny. After a short walk down Lincoln Road, I snapped off a few photographs of a great morning in South Beach. Season is here, traveller’s are making their vacation plans, and we will soon see a surplus of tourism in November through March as the warmth and beauty of Miami Beach shine through this winter!

Pedicabs Have Taken Over the Streets of South Beach
by Ashton Coleman on Jun.07, 2008, under Community Information
I was driving down the strip of Washington Avenue & Lincoln Road yesterday and noticed something out of the ordinary… pedicabs picking up a group of girls along Lincoln Road. Looking again, I noticed a group of these new pedicab carts & drivers congregating in the Miami sunshine. Forget walking the blocks, troublesome parking and $4.50 gallon petro pricing. This new form of transportation is now in effect and ready for the tourists and locals needing a cheap ride and Miami thrills. With high heels and a multitude of shopping bags, you’ll find these convenient carts everywhere to get you to & from in SoBe style. 14 new pedicabs pedal you around South Beach at a charge of $1 a block and take the edge off of your lengthy travels.
The first cart received a City permit in February and now an abundant surge of these are creating red flags for city officials who have banned them from more popular tourist routes such as Ocean Drive & Collins Avenue. The City of Miami Beach is concerned of them becoming traffic hazzards and now even more streets may soon be off limits.
”The reason we don’t want pedicabs in heavily trafficked areas is because there’s no safe place to load and unload passengers,” Miami Beach Commissioner Jerry Libbin said during a recent Neighborhoods Affairs Committee meeting.
Time will tell what’s in store for the new gang of Miami Beach pedicabs, but as city officials decide what to do next, many tourists and locals will be taking advantage of the fashionable form of transportation all the while getting fresh air in America’s Cleanest City. Let us know what you think… Could these be harmful or a blessing for the diverse mix of Miami Beach travellers looking for something new & different.
